BSF shoots down Pakistani drone carrying weapons near border in Kathua of Jammu

A Pakistani spy drone was shot down by the Border Security Force (BSF) in Hirangar sector of Kathua district on Saturday morning. The incident took place around 5 am. The Pakistani drone was carrying several weapons that were recovered along with the drone.

A patrolling party of 19 Batallion of the BSF found the 8×8 drone (from blade to blade) Pakistani drone flying near the international border in Hiranagar sector of Kathua district and shot 8-9 rounds to bring it down.

The drone was successfully downed.

The drone was spotted at an approximate distance of 250 metres from the International Border at Rathua village in the vicinity of Border Out Post (BOP) Pansar.

A highly sophisticated rifle, two magazines, 60 rounds and seven grenades were the payload on the drone meant to be delivered to Pakistani agents, the officials said quoting preliminary information.

It is believed that the Pakistani rangers manning the forward posts opposite BOP Pansar were controlling the drone, they said.

Meanwhile, the officials said Pakistani rangers fired a few rounds on Babiya post in Hiranagar sector around 8.50 am.
